Build a hive, make some honey! Hive Time is a small, bee themed management/base building sim. Harvest resources, grow your hive, and produce a new Queen before the current one dies. Manage different bee roles in a totally scientifically inaccurate depiction of hive dynamics. Send Foragers out to find pollen and nectar, have Builders research new cell types, and ensure you have enough Beesitters to raise the next generation of bees. Make interesting choices that affect the hive - respond to wasp attacks, deal with outlaw slugs, or help a caterpillar realise a lifelong dream.
A prototype of Hive Time was initially created by Josh "Cheeseness" Bush and Miriam "Mimness" Roser (A.K.A. Two Lof Bees) as part of an informal ten day game jam in May 2019. This early version of the game featured basic construction, population management, and resource production.Development
Encouraged by a positive reception to the jam prototype, development continued for the remainder of 2019. Research, foraging, and defence management systems were added to Hive Time's core mechanics while its zany world was expanded through a wider range of events and vignettes. Peter Silk was brought on board to compose Hive Time's original soundtrack.
